Terms of Service

Buffet — operated by Buffet Co, Inc.

Welcome to Buffet. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Buffet mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Service”) operated by Buffet Co, Inc. (“Buffet,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.

1. Who Can Use Buffet

You must be at least 18 years old to use Buffet. By using the Service, you represent that you are 18 or older and legally able to enter into these Terms.

You may only create one account, and it must be for your personal, non-commercial use. You’re responsible for everything that happens under your account, so keep your login credentials secure.

2. What Buffet Is

Buffet connects you with curated real-world events and experiences, seats you at tables with other members, and facilitates group chats and one-on-one connections. We curate the experiences; you bring yourself.

We don’t guarantee any particular outcome — who you’ll meet, whether you’ll hit it off, or whether the event will be everything you hoped. Buffet facilitates introductions; the rest is up to you.

3. Your Conduct

Buffet is built on people actually showing up and being decent to each other. By using the Service, you agree that you will NOT:

  • Harass, abuse, threaten, intimidate, or harm any other user, whether in the app or at an event;
  • Post or share content that is objectionable, abusive, hateful, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, or discriminatory;
  • Impersonate any person, misrepresent your identity, or use photos that are not of you;
  • Use the Service for any commercial purpose, including solicitation, advertising, or promotion, without our written consent;
  • Use the Service to break any applicable law;
  • Attempt to access other users’ accounts, scrape data, reverse-engineer the app, or interfere with the Service’s operation;
  • Create an account if you have previously been removed from the Service.

We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior. We provide in-app tools to report and block users. We review reports and may remove content, suspend, or permanently ban any user at our sole discretion, with or without notice.

4. Events and Real-World Interactions

Buffet events take place in the real world, at real venues, with real people. You acknowledge that:

  • You attend events voluntarily and at your own risk;
  • Buffet does not conduct background checks on members;
  • Buffet is not responsible for the conduct of any user, venue, or third party, whether online or offline;
  • You are responsible for your own safety. Use good judgment, meet in the public spaces our events are held in, and trust your instincts.

RSVP responsibly. Repeated no-shows after RSVPing may affect your reliability standing on the Service and your access to future events.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of the content you post (photos, messages, profile information). By posting content, you grant Buffet a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute that content in connection with operating and promoting the Service.

You represent that you have the right to post the content you share and that it doesn’t violate anyone else’s rights.

We may remove any content at any time at our sole discretion.

6. Buffet+ Subscriptions

Buffet offers an optional paid membership, Buffet+, with enhanced features.

Pricing. Buffet+ is available as a monthly subscription ($14.99/month) or an annual subscription ($99/year). The annual plan may include a 7-day free trial for new subscribers. Prices may vary by region and are shown in the app before purchase.

Billing. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase, or at the end of any free trial period if you have not cancelled.

Auto-renewal. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the price of the plan you selected.

Managing and cancelling. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iOS device). Deleting the app or your Buffet account does not cancel your subscription — you must cancel through your Apple ID.

Free trials. Any unused portion of a free trial period is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. If you cancel during a free trial before it ends, you will not be charged.

Refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests are handled by Apple under their terms — visit reportaproblem.apple.com.

7. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → menu → Account → Delete Account). Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, photos, and account data, subject to our Privacy Policy and legal retention requirements. Deleting your account does not cancel an active Apple subscription (see Section 6).

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms, pose a risk to other users, or for any other reason at our sole discretion. If your account is terminated for violating these Terms, you are not entitled to any refund.

8. Intellectual Property

The Service — including its design, branding, software, and content we create — is owned by Buffet Co, Inc. and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. BUFFET DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY EVENT, MATCH, OR INTERACTION WILL MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BUFFET CO, INC. AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES — INCLUDING DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, YOUR ATTENDANCE AT ANY EVENT, OR YOUR INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER USERS, WHETHER ONLINE OR OFFLINE.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BUFFET’S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID BUFFET IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Buffet Co, Inc. from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, your conduct at events, or your violation of these Terms.

12. Changes to the Service and These Terms

We’re a young company and the Service will evolve. We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We may also update these Terms — if we make material changes, we’ll notify you through the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

14. Apple-Specific Terms

These Terms are between you and Buffet Co, Inc., not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app and is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the app. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
